Water and sediments sampling
Activities of water and sediments sampling planned with a good spatial location and optimal time distribution, concur to obtain important information regarding the aquatic ecosystems water and sediments quality.

Centro ISIDE has got all the equipments necessary to realize water and sediments sampling either along rivers or on lakes. Particularly, for water sampling, are used manual equipments IDROMAR Limnos type, that allow to collect preserved water samples either at low or high depth.
For sediments sampling are instead used, according to local and specific conditions:
- spatula or metallic spoon;
- sampling equipment “dredge” type;
- manual percussion corer.
Centro ISIDE has got specialized technicians that are able to build optimal monitoring strategies, according to specific local conditions and to the target to reach. Particularly, sampling surveys are planned and realized caring about the following points:
- good choice of sampling points in relation to:
- reach and have access to the places;
- have the availability of structures can be used as a "base" to collect the sample;
- river's confluence;
- presence of hydraulics structures and/or drain-pipes;
- special conditions of flow;
- temporal plan of monitoring based on:
- duration of monitoring;
- frequency of sampling;
- chemical parameters to measure by laboratory analyses;
- sampling methods variables according to:
- water depth;
- contour conditions (river or lake sections, flow, etc.);
- size and granulometric assortment;
- number of samples to collect along the water profile;
- water or sediment volume necessary to post realize analysis in laboratory;
- specific local environment;
- sample managing:
- maximum care during the collect to avoid all contaminations;
- all the bottles are stored in thermo boxes and then carried to laboratory for chemical analyses.
