Bathymetric
relieves
Bathymetric surveys allow to monitor reservoir sedimentation, study hydrological basins, plain river management, make sediment and erosion budgets.

Centro ISIDE is able to realize complete bathymetric surveys, based on simple methodologies, using reliable and innovative instrumentations.
The typical configuration comprises a GPS base station, located on a point with known position and a GPS Rover station on a ship, radio connected and used in real time kinematic mode (RTK). On the boat there are too:
- a transducer, with frequency of 230 KHz;
- an echo sounder system OHMEX SONARLITE;
- a notebook with the software DEEP POSEIDON, that allows the data storage and the management of the measure survey.
While the ship moves, the system measures the altimetric position of the depth and planimetric position of the points on the route.
Centro ISIDE staff operates so as to satisfy every time the quality of relief:
- initialization:
the measurement must begin from a point with known position, previously determined by standard topographical relief; - reception:
it must be always guaranteed signal reception of four satellites at least, for both receivers; - re-inizialization:
the relief must begin again from a point with known position, case of a station receives the signals of less than four satellites;
This methodology introduces various advantages regarding the previous traditional systems of bathymetric surveys:
- meaningful reduction of relief time;
- decrease of survey cost;
- possibility to plain optimal distribution of the measured points;
- possibility to measure data of high number of points;
- high precision in the determination of the point position (planimetry=±1cm - altimetry=±3cm).
Moreover, a real time kinematic mode (RTK) system allows to:
- obtain in real time the planimetric and altimetric position of the points on the boat route;
- always verify the minimum conditions necessary for the quality of the measurement;
- correct the route to maintain a good signals reception from satellites.
Data measured are post processed and allow to make:
- depth sections;
- contour lines map;
- Digital Terrain Model (DTM) using software like LEONARDO QUATTRO;
- areas and volumes diagrams;
- estimate of sedimentation phenomena.
